The Illinois Truants' Alternative and Optional Education Professional Development Project is an Illinois State Board of Education grant-funded project administered by the Regional Office of Education #26 for Hancock/McDonough Counties.

The goal of this statewide initiative is to address Illinois' need to provide a statewide system of professional development for educators who work with the Truants' Alternative and Optional Education Program (TAOEP). The TAOEP program is designed to offer modified instruction or other services designed to prevent students from dropping out of school. The projects serve dropouts up to the age of 21 and potential dropouts, including truants, uninvolved, unmotivated, and disaffected students.
